Federated Farmers says it is not surprising that a two-year-old child was a passenger on a quad bike which rolled down a hill on a farm in Hawke's Bay.
The girl was airlifted to hospital with facial and head injuries on Sunday afternoon after the quad bike driven by her father toppled down a hill on the farm in Tuai after it was rammed by a bull.
Her condition is stable on Monday. Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital said her injuries are minor, but her family has requested privacy.
Federated Farmers spokesperson Jeanette Maxwell said it is not uncommon for farmers to take their children out on the farm with them if there is no one to supervise them in the house.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment said it is making inquiries into the incident before deciding whether to investigate further.
