Bad form for minister to humiliate officials - PSA

The Public Service Association says it's bad form for Primary Industries Minister Nathan Guy to have humiliated public servants.

Mr Guy has spoken at length of his disappointment with officials from the Ministry for Primary Industries, who he has blamed for New Zealand meat being held up at the Chinese border.

Mr Guy says both he and the ministry's director-general were left in the dark for too long.

PSA national secretary, Richard Wagstaff, says it's bad form for a Government minister to berate staff so publicly.

He says the minister should wait for the findings of an inquiry before he apportions blame.
