Ngai Tuhoe descendants have voted on whether or not to sign a Deed of Settlement with the Crown.
In March, the iwi and the Government initialled the Deed of Settlement, which includes a Crown apology and acknowledgement of Treaty of Waitangi breaches.
It also involves redress worth about $170 million, including a part of the Kaingaroa Forest near Rotorua.
Voting for iwi members closed at midday on 8 May, after the deed was taken back to the people for ratification.
Ngai Tuhoe leader Tamati Kruger says information and voting papers were sent to 8000 members.
He says if the people vote yes, then the iwi and Crown can sign the Deed of Settlement on 4 June.
Mr Kruger say the results of the vote should be known by Tuesday next week.
