The cost of recent flooding to council infrastructure in Nelson is expected to be over $1.2 million.
Areas which require remedial work include roading, utilities and parks in Stoke, which bore the brunt of the deluge on 21 April.
Hydrologists have termed it "a one in 500-year flood."
Detailed design work is being undertaken by the Nelson City Council to enable repair work to start.
