Supreme Court upholds Barry Hart ruling

The Supreme Court has upheld a ruling declaring disgraced Auckland barrister Barry Hart bankrupt.

The lawyer was struck off in 2012 after being found guilty of professional misconduct.

The ANZ Bank asked for the declaration last year, saying it was owed $20 million.

The High Court granted that request and it was later upheld by the Court of Appeal.

In a ruling released on Thursday, the Supreme Court says it does not believe that an error or substantial miscarriage of justice occured in the lower court's rulings.
