A Northland boy charged with the murder of a girl in Kerikeri has been committed for trial in the High Court.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named due to his age, appeared in Kaikohe Youth Court on Tuesday for a depositions hearing before two Justices of the Peace.
The body of Liberty Templemann, 15, was found by a stream in Kerikeri in November last year.
The accused, who was 14 at the time, was arrested a few days later.
Most details of the Youth Court hearing have been suppressed.
The boy's lawyer told the court he pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and not guilty to a second charge of indecently assaulting Miss Templeman.
The boy has been remanded in the custody of Child, Youth and Family to appear before the High Court in Whangarei on 18 June to set a date for a jury trial.
