Public service chiefs keeping lid on spending

The half-yearly release of Public Service chief executives' expenses shows they are keeping a lid on their spending.

The State Services Commissioner, who monitors the spending, spent $7708.19 in the period, less than most chief executives.

Overall, chief executives have spent about the same or slightly less than the same period last year.

One of the big spenders was Adrian Orr, the chief executive of the Guardians of the Superfund.

He spent almost $49699.57 on travel in the six months to December, but that included a number of international trips.

Several other chief executives spent $20,000 or more, and in all cases their spending involved an overseas trip.
