Police investigating the death of a Levin man, say online comments about how he died are slowing down their investigation.
Michael Valentine, who was 27, was killed on Friday night.
A 31-year-old man has been charged with murder, and two other men, aged 22 and 29, are charged with assault.
Police are not looking for anyone else.
Detective Senior Sergeant Marc Hercock said there is no truth to suggestions on social networking sites that those arrested were friends of the victim.
He said Mr Valentine died from a single stab wound to the chest, and online comments about other injuries are not consistent with witness reports.
