New restrictions come into affect on Saturday in Christchurch that will affect dog owners when they take their pets to the beach.
Until 1 March,between 9am - 7pm, dogs will be allowed near surf clubs only if passing through and they must be leashed and controlled.
Christchurch City Council inspections and enforcement manager Gary Lennan said all beaches have slightly different rules and owners must check the signage at each beach.
