Three Hamilton schoolgirls are surprised about how calm they were when they saved a woman who crashed her mobility scooter into the Waikato River on Tuesday.
The Sacred Heart College pupils were walking back to school from a sports class when they saw the woman lose control of her scooter and plunge into the river.
They managed to hold her head out of the water until emergency services arrived.
Alisha Heta said they remembered to stay calm from a first aid class at school.
Their principal has told them she is the proudest principal in Waikato.
