A Wanaka mother who was breast-feeding her upset baby was asked to leave Queenstown District Court.
Catherine Owen was supporting her partner who appeared in court on Tuesday.
When her 18-week-old baby began to cry, Ms Owen began to breast-fed her to keep her quiet.
She heard the judge ask why a mother was breast-feeding in the court and left before a bailiff could ask her to. Ms Owen says she found the experience embarrassing.
She says she has never had anyone complain about breast-feeding in public areas before and would not have done it if she had known it was not permitted in the court.
