One of the three victims of a meat cleaver attack in the Waikato has been released from hospital.
Detective Sergeant Mata John said the parties were drinking at a public place in Ngaruawahia on Thursday night when a man set upon them with a cleaver.
A 39-year old man has been arrested and charged with three counts of serious assault following the attack and appeared in the Hamilton District Court on Friday.
One man remains in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital's intensive care unit while another is in a stable but serious condition.
