Two homes for intellectually disabled people in Christchurch have been put under temporary management by the Ministry of Health following complaints from family members of residents.
The homes are run by the Mary Moodie Family Trust and care for 12 people.
A spokesperson for the ministry says the complaints were general concerns about relationship issues between staff and residents and their families. The temporary management has been assigned to find out what is going on.
The spokesperson says the temporary manager met with the homes' manager on Thursday to discuss how they will go forward, and will carry out a review on the quality of care provided to residents.
The review will involve talking to residents, their families and staff.
