Cardiac arrest likely in Tauranga microlight death

A coroner says a pilot who died in an aircraft crash at Tauranga airport two years ago most likely suffered a cardiac problem.

Jeffrey Bryant, 56, had just completed a practice manoeuvre when his microlight aircraft climbed to 60 metres, then went through a number of steep left descending turns before crashing to the ground.

The coroner says it's most probable that a cardiac event caused Mr Bryant to become incapable of controlling the aircraft.
