A survey suggests most New Zealanders are happy in their current job.

Statistics New Zealand's survey of working life says 84% of New Zealanders are either satisfied or very satisfied with all aspects of their employment.

The survey says 75.8% of the working population believe they have a good work-life balance.

Around half of employees (47.4%) had - or sometimes had - flexible hours in their main job

Almost two thirds, or 62.7%, say they usually work all their hours in the standard working times, between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday.

The survey found that 9.4% of employees were temporary employees.

Over half of these (52%) were further classified as casual workers.

Of all temporary employees, 55.6% were female, compared with 46% of all employed people.
