Wilson could be out of prison slightly earlier

8:30 am on 7 August 2012

The criminal dubbed the Beast of Blenheim could be out of jail slightly sooner than expected.

The Parole Board will on Tuesday make a second attempt to set prison release conditions for Stewart Murray Wilson, who is in jail for rape, assault, bestiality, stupefying and ill-treatment of children over a 25-year period.

Psychologists say all indications point to Wilson reoffending as soon as he is released, as he has to be - having served his sentence - on 1 September.

Because that date falls on a Saturday, Radio New Zealand News understands Wilson could be out of prison on the Wednesday before, 29 August.

The release date will be decided at a hearing at Rolleston Prison.

A three-member panel led by Judge John Macdonald will also decide where 65-year-old Wilson can live and whether he will be monitored by GPS tracking.
