Police in Masterton are investigating an incident in which gunshots were fired at a house in the town on Friday night.
Neighbours of the Miriam St house have said they heard several gunshots just before 9pm.
Police say a number of shots penetrated the wall of two bedrooms at the front of the house.
Acting Detective Sergeant Mike Smith says no one was hurt during the drive-by shooting but people were home at the time, and one of the damaged rooms is used by children.
He says it's believed a vehicle was involved.
Police say they're taking the matter very seriously and would like to hear from any witnesses. They say people can contact them on 06-370 0300 or ring the Crimestoppers line (0800-555-111) anonymously.
