Helensville killing still baffling

Police investigating the killing of a man west of Auckland a year ago admit they're baffled.

The body of Lee McMurdo, 32, a known user and low-level dealer of illicit drugs, was found at his home in Helensville.

Detective Inspector Greg Cramer says the police are still looking for a car, a stolen white Mitsubishi Mirage with a black bonnet, which they think could be connected with the killing.

He says 3000 people have been interviewed in the past year and 18 staff remain on the inquiry.
