A 68-year-old man has died after being hit by a train at Lower Hutt, north of Wellington, at 1:23 Tuesday afternoon.
The ambulance service says the man died at the scene, at Wingate Station.
Police say the accident has caused delays and may disrupt commuter services on the Upper Hutt line.
