Police are hunting for a man who pointed a pistol at officers in Christchurch.
They say the incident happened as police were arriving to investigate a domestic incident in Edgeware at 11.20pm on Saturday.
They say as they approached, a 44-year-old man, whose identity is known, he presented a pistol at the police. No shots were fired.
Police say the man fled the scene before the arrival of the Armed Offenders Squad and is yet to be located.
An air pistol was found inside the address and it is believed the man is no longer armed.
