Council calls for submissions on brothel bylaw

12:12 pm on 11 June 2012

Christchurch City Council is calling for public submissions on a controversial bylaw on the location of brothels in the city.

The proposed bylaw restricts the location of large brothels to commercial areas.

There have been public concerns that some brothels may move to the suburbs where there is less earthquake damage.

Small owner operated brothels will still be allowed to set up anywhere in the city.

Public consultation runs until 10 July.
