Two South Island ski fields will open this weekend for the 2012 season.
Mount Hutt and Coronet Peak will open on Saturday after receiving 10cm of natural snow and taking advantage of the cold weather to run their snow machines.
The Remarkables ski field should open next week and Cardrona, near Wanaka, will open in two weeks.
