New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has paid tribute to the Queen as four days of celebrations to mark her 60 years on the throne ended in London.

Mr Key, who is in London to attend the festivities, says it was fitting New Zealand was represented at the Diamond Jubilee.

He said he felt honoured to pay the respects of the people of New Zealand.

Mr Key said the Queen has done a marvellous job for 60 years and is much loved in New Zealand.

In a message broadcast on radio and television, the Queen has thanked all those who organised the events and said she will continue to draw inspiration from the kindnesses shown to her in Britain and throughout the Commonwealth.
