A Maori child advocacy group wants the Government to fund a $3 million campaign to discourage violence in Maori families.
The Ririki group has developed a parenting model based on traditional Maori beliefs and family values, and would spend the money promoting its concept.
It will make a submission to a Maori Affairs Select Committee inquiry in Auckland on Wednesday.
Figures from the Ministry of Social Development show that Maori children are more likely than non-Maori children to be abused or neglected.
Some 800 community workers have been trained to use Ririki's parenting model in their work with whanau.
