A group of Wellington mothers has launched a petition asking the Government to reverse its controversial new policy for teacher-pupil ratios.
The Government's proposal for funding changes will result in larger class sizes for Year 2 to Year 10 and job losses among teachers. It says the money saved will go into teacher development.
Johnsonville mother Natasha Eden is organising the petition and says she is worried vulnerable children like her daughter, who has epilepsy, will get left behind as classes get bigger.
Ms Eden says she is aiming to get 4000 signatures before presenting the petition to Education Minister Hekia Parata next month.
