At least 20 people have been taken away by police during a student protest in central Auckland.
About 100 students attended a demonstration against last week's Budget.
On Friday afternoon, part of Symonds Street between Alfred and St Paul streets was closed for a time after students sat in the middle of the road chanting loudly.
Protesters say the are opposed to the National Government's Budget reforms, which they say are penalising already struggling students.
