A former RSA president fined for wearing wearing war medals he never earned resigned from a local government position on Wednesday.
Donald Moselen was the chair of the Otaki Community Board on the Kapiti Coast. He was also president of the Otaki Returned & Services Association.
In April this year, he pleaded guilty to wearing four medals, including a Vietnam medal, despite having never served there and was fined $500 on Tuesday.
Otaki board deputy chair James Cootes says Mr Moselen had been a good chairperson since taking up the position in 2010, but has done the right thing.
The resignation is effective immediately.
