Police in Kaikoura say assault charges may be laid after a brawl involving about 10 women outside a bar.
Senior Constable Andy Grant, says the police arrived at the Adelphi bar soon after midnight on Sunday and sent the women home before closing the premises.
Mr Grant says one woman told them she was assaulted.
He would not be drawn on what caused the scuffle and said inquiries were continuing.
