A reverend has been arrested after a bible was thrown at Manurewa MP George Hawkins.
Mr Hawkins laid a complaint with police after a man hurled a bible at him during a public meet-the-candidates event hosted by the Manurewa Baptist Church on Sunday.
He says the man threw what is thought to be a 5kg bible at him, which left him with a bruised hand.
Police say Reverend Colin Neil McLachlin will appear in Manukau District Court on Friday on a charge of common assault.
