Christchurch police are speaking with a 24-year-old man after a woman was shot in the arm on Thursday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Hill says the woman was walking her dog in the evening in Burwood when she heard a sound like a crack.
He says the woman felt pain in her forearm and saw a bleeding hole before seeking help from a pharmacist who called an ambulance.
Police are speaking to a man on Friday afternoon and say he is likely to face charges.
