Disorder advice group to wind-up

A group set up to provide advice to doctors on how to treat common disorders says it is to wind-up its work.

The Guidelines Group was set up in 1999 to promote best practice in healthcare by producing recommendations for doctors.

But it lost a $590,000 contract with the Ministry of Health this year.

It failed to gain other contracts after hearing in June it was to lose that contract.

Chairman Jim Vause said a special board meeting on Tuesday decided to begin liquidation.

He said this will likely be confirmed at another meeting in a month.

The ministry has said the group's work is now largely done by other agencies.
