Key tourism groups to merge

11:05 am on 28 March 2012

Two of New Zealand tourism's key bodies are to merge.

The Tourism Industry Association and the New Zealand Hotel Council will join forces from 1 April this year.

The association's interim chief executive, Grant Lilly, says its name won't change and it will create a new dedicated tourism hotel resource.

Mr Lilly says the merger is the beginning of creating stronger representation for New Zealand tourism and further integrations will cement its contribution to the economy.
