A land search for the four people still missing since a boat sank in Foveaux Strait on Thursday ended on Tuesday with no debris or anything of significance found.
The fishing vessel Easy Rider sank after being hit by a large wave, leaving eight people presumed dead. One man survived and four bodies have been found.
Police suspended the full-scale search for the missing people on Sunday but continued on Tuesday with a limited search covering the southern coast from Fortrose to Chaslands Mistake, while another team searched beaches further west.
Fifteen volunteers searched the coast from Omaui to Ocean Beach.
A decision on whether to search the Ruapuke Island coast will be made on Wednesday morning.
