The chief executive of Television New Zealand is stepping down after nine years in the job.

Kevin Kenrick will continue in the role until the end of February while the board looks for his replacement.
Board chair Andy Coupe said Kenrick had led the organisation through a period of significant growth and transformational change.
"Whilst we will be sad to see him leave, the board is confident that Kevin has positioned TVNZ strongly for future success," Coupe said.
TVNZ had transformed itself from a legacy broadcaster into a comprehensive digital and linear content service during that time, he said.
Kenrick was proud of what TVNZ had achieved in his time as chief executive.
"I've loved the opportunity to work with the incredibly talented team at TVNZ and feel confident that the business is in great shape and is well placed to take advantage of the opportunities ahead."
The broadcaster recently announced a $59 million net profit in the year to June, on the back of a loss last year, and would resume paying a dividend to the government.
Kenrick said he would take an extended break before making any decisions about future roles.
