The New Zealand women's hockey team's dream start to their Olympic campaign continued with a 4-1 win over South Africa on Tuesday.
Following the Black Sticks' opening 1-0 win over Australia, New Zealand now are top of their pool.
Two goals from co-captain Kayla Sharland, a goal from birthday girl Charlotte Harrison and a superb drag flick from Clarissa Eshuis, along with some tight defence, secured another three points for the Black Sticks.
South Africa's Pietie Coetzee pulled one goal back with a penalty stroke.
Black Sticks coach Mark Hager says the New Zealanders' first half was outstanding with no weak links, however in the second spell they struggled to control the ball.
Hager says with two wins first up the women have given themselves a chance, but are under no illusions that some tough games lie ahead - especially the next Group B match against world No 2 Argentina on Thursday.
New Zealand also still have to play the United States and Germany.
