NZ sailors win finn and star races

New Zealand sailors have had wins on the water at the Olympic Games.

In the finn class, Dan Slater won race 3, but came 6th in race four on Monday.

In the star class, the team of Hamish Pepper (skipper) and Jim Turner won their third race, but placed 13th in the fourth race.

In other events on England's south coast, in the 49er class Peter Burling (skipper) with Blair Tuke were 9th in race 1 and 7th in race 2 and were 8th overall.

In the laser class, Andrew Murdoch was 12th in race 1 and 8th in race 2, putting him in 9th place overall.

In the laser radial, Sara Winther was 31st after race 1 and placed 23rd in race 2 and was ranked 27th overall.

The match racing team of Stephanie Hazard (skipper), Jenna Hansen and Susannah Pyatt were beaten by a Spanish trio on Monday.

The New Zealanders have won one race and lost two in the best of eight series.
