National asked to spell out tertiary education policy

7:19 pm on 5 November 2008

The Auckland University Students' Association is calling on the National Party to release its Tertiary Education policy before the election.

President David Do says National's spokespeople have repeatedly told students over the past year that tertiary education policies were yet to be finalised and would be announced closer to the election, but no such announcement has been made.

He says National's student loan bonding policies show that the party acknowledges student debt is a problem.

But he says the party has delivered nothing to address students' financial situations, or the under-funding of universities and polytechnics.
