Sporting legends Inga Tuigamala and Michael Jones have endorsed the National Party.
The former All Blacks say there is growing support for National in the Pacific community, in part because some law changes that have been made under a Labour-led Government go against Pacific people's ideals.
The pair accompanied National's leader John Key on a visit to the Southern Cross campus in Mangere in Auckland, where he announced $6 million to provide the school with a new trades and technology facility.
The two sportsmen say there is growing support for National, as there is a feeling Labour has not always followed through on its promises.
They say reforms such as civil unions and decriminalising prostitution also go against the many beliefs held by the Pacific community.
Jones was asked to run for National this election, but declined for family reasons, saying there is always next time.
Labour leader Helen Clark has dismissed Jones and Tuigamala's endorsement of National.
"If they want to line up with Lockwood Smith and his attitudes towards Pacific people good luck to them, but I think I know where the hearts and minds of the great majority of the Pacifica population lie."
