The organisers of Christchurch's annual children's festival are expecting a huge turnout of earthquake-affected families.
KidsFest runs for two weeks during the school holidays with more than 140 activities throughout Canterbury for toddlers to teenagers.
Its organisers are expecting many of the events to sell out as parents struggle to keep their children entertained in the earthquake-stricken city.
Co-ordinator Paul Kean says he's relieved the festival is able to go ahead, as many of the city's venues are closed due to earthquake damage.
Some of the events have already sold out.
