Oxford University in Britain has become the latest institution to offer places for students at the earthquake-stricken Canterbury University.
The universities announced the eight-week scheme for up to 42 honours and PhD students on Thursday.
Oxford and its colleges will waive fees and accommodation costs for the students and Canterbury will provide $2000 per student to cover travel and insurance.
The exchange follows an offer of help from Oxford's vice-chancellor Andrew Hamilton, immediately after the 22 February quake.
Canterbury also has agreements with the University of Adelaide in Australia and with five New Zealand universities.
Deputy vice-chancellor Ian Town says about 50 of Canterbury's domestic students are on half-semester exchanges to other New Zealand universities and 168 are in Adelaide.
