Union wants more flexible enrolments for students

The Union of Students' Associations says some universities have refused to enrol students fleeing earthquake-ravaged Christchurch.

The union says they need to be more flexible and take a common approach.

It says they should adopt a consistent exchange system so students can enrol easily but return to the University of Canterbury later in the year if they want to.

The union also says universities should waive their normal prerequisites and limits on enrolments in order to accommodate Canterbury students.

Though the viability of Canterbury is important, it says, so too is the welfare of students wanting to fully transfer to another university.
