Stone church illegally demolished

Christchurch City Council may prosecute whoever demolished a heritage building in the city without authorisation.

It is investigating the illegal demolition of a stone church on the corner of Colombo St and Brougham St.

Mayor Bob Parker says there is a process for demolition and no heritage buildings should be destroyed without approval.

He says the council wishes to save as many of the city's heritage buildings as it can.
