A list of funeral directors in Christchurch has been posted on the Ministry of Justice website to assist families.
Chief Coroner Judge Neil MacLean says his team of experts are continuing to formally identify victims and hopes to release bodies to families in the next few days.
Any information which may help identify victims should be passed on to the Red Cross.
Judge MacLean says every bit of information, including distinguishing marks, clothing, dental records and even their last known location and photos helps.
