Homeowners urged to lodge quake claims

Owners of Canterbury properties damaged in September's big earthquake have until 4 December to lodge claims with the Earthquake Commission (EQC).

Prime Minister John Key says the Government is urging people to talk to their friends, families and colleagues to ensure that they have lodged claims.

About 350 households with substantial damage are yet to lodge a claim.

While the assessment process may take some time, the cost of repairs will be covered if a claim is lodged, he says.

Homeowners can visit the EQC website or call its claims centre on 0800 326 243.
