Some normality will return to Christchurch's nightlife on Friday evening with the reopening of the popular SoL Square.
The cluster of bars and restaurants in the central city has been closed since the earthquake nearly two weeks ago.
A spokesperson, Max Bremner, says the historic buildings, which had been strengthened for earthquakes, have been checked, repaired and cleared to open at 5pm.
