Dealing with land damaged by the Canterbury earthquake is the next big issue facing authorities, Prime Minister John Key says.
However, he warned the Government needs to be cautious about baling out uninsured quake victims.
Mr Key again visited Christchurch on Wednesday and says officials quickly need to look at damaged land.
He says decisions are needed about what happens if the occupants have to leave, if their Earthquake Commission payment does not cover replacement of the land and who is responsible for remedial work.
The Prime Minister says the Government is considering how to help uninsured property owners not eligible for commission payments. But he says it wants to avoid sending the message that property owners do not need insurance
Mr Key says quake victims must not be treated differently to victims of other natural disasters.
