The Red Cross is co-ordinating the single appeal fund to help those affected by the Canterbury earthquake.
The region's mayors handed control of their mayoral fund to the aid agency on Wednesday.
Donations to the Canterbury Earthquake Appeal can be made at any branch of Kiwibank, ANZ, National, ASB, BNZ and TSB banks, at Paper Plus and Vehicle Testing New Zealand branches, or on the New Zealand Red Cross website.
The mayors and the Red Cross have vowed that 100% of every donation received by the fund will be spent on those affected by the earthquake.
