Plumbers working 'round the clock'

Plumbers have been working round the clock in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake, says the Master Plumbers Association.

The association says there is quick-fix solution to the work ahead, which is likely to continue well into next year.

Chairman Mark Whitehead says it's an extremely challenging situation because most of the problems are under the ground and invisible.

Mr Whitehead says many problems such as cracked pipes won't show up straightaway and he advises people and businesses to arrange checks as soon as practical.

He warned homeowners to shun offers from unregistered plumbers offering to fix problems.
