Tourism operators are being sought to set up shop in the former red zone of Christchurch.
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority is asking for proposals from operators who want a premises in the inner city.
Chief executive Roger Sutton said the Red Bus Tours that have been running since late last year have fulfilled a need and will continue as long as the company wants to.
Mr Sutton said there is a need other, smaller operators to run short-term ventures that will be in place until the cordon is removed.
That might be anything from walking tours, cycling tours, tuk-tuks, Segways, mini-vans or limousines.
