Hundreds in Christchurch insurance protest

One of the organisers of a protest about delays in settling insurance claims in Christchurch says the Government needs to put pressure on the industry so much needed repairs to homes can be carried out.

About 300 people attended the protest in the city on Saturday afternoon.

The biggest insurer in the region, IAG, says one quarter of private insurance claims have been settled in the eighteen months since the 22 February 2011 earthquake.

One of the organisers, Jason Hutt, says he'd like the Government to make the insurance companies get things moving.
